POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting directly to the Senior Superintendent of Corporate Services, the Manager of Information Technology Services is a visionary leader responsible for driving digital transformation and innovation across academic and corporate IT services. This role provides strategic direction, fosters a culture of continuous improvement, and ensures technology initiatives align with the district’s educational and operational priorities. The Manager leads teams specializing in service delivery, IT architecture, systems management, infrastructure, cybersecurity, applications, device management, and solution delivery, and supports the district’s commitment to equity, accessibility, and sustainability.

Salary Range:$152,880 - $166,784

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Leadership & Innovation
- Develop and execute a forward-thinking IT strategy that supports the district’s mission, values, and student achievement.
- Champion digital transformation, including cloud migration, AI adoption, and data-driven decision-making.
- Collaborate with senior administration to align IT planning with organizational goals and student achievement.
- Foster a culture of innovation, agility, and inclusivity within IT teams.
- Cybersecurity & Risk Management
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of cybersecurity frameworks, incident response plans, risk registers and data management protocols.
- Oversee ongoing risk assessments, and compliance with legislation and Board policies and procedures.
- Lead and manage incident response, investigations, and communication with staff and external partners.
- Project & Portfolio Management
- Direct complex IT projects using recognized methodologies, ensuring on-time delivery, within scope, and on budget.
- Manage resources, track project outcomes, and report progress.
- Financial Management and Sustainability
- Oversee IT operations, infrastructure, and service delivery, ensuring reliability, legislative compliance, scalability, and security.
- Lead the development, management, and reporting of IT budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and organizational goals.
- Conduct financial forecasting to support strategic decision-making and optimize resource allocation.
- Champion and integrate sustainability initiatives into IT operations, including energy-efficient practices, and responsible e-waste management.
- Manage procurement processes, vendor relationships, and contract negotiations to optimize value and ensure compliance with relevant policies and legislation in collaboration with the Purchasing Department.
- Talent Management & Professional Development
- Lead, mentor, and maintain a diverse, high-performing IT team.
- Promote professional learning, upskilling, and leadership development opportunities.
- Support multi locational work environments operating in compliance with collective agreement and non-union terms and condition language while fostering collaboration and well-being.
- Engagement & Communication
- Communicate effectively with executive and senior administration, staff, school communities, vendors, and external organizations.
- Build partnerships and represent the Board at local and provincial technology forums.
- Continuous Improvement
- Stay current with emerging technologies, best practices, and trends in education and enterprise IT.
- Proactively recommend improvements to organizational structure, processes, and strategic priorities.
- Technical Expertise
- Advanced knowledge of IT application systems, cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, Google), cybersecurity, and data analytics.
- Experience with computing and mobile device management, endpoint security, managed and extended detection and response (MDR, XDR), security information and event management (SIEM), security orchestration automation and response (SOAR), security access service edge (SASE), zero trust architecture and frameworks (ZTNA), network infrastructure (WAN, LAN, SD-WAN, remote access), and identity/access management.
- Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence and automation in educational and corporate settings.
- Cybersecurity & Incident Response
- Demonstrated ability to lead cybersecurity programs, incident response, and threat intelligence.
- Experience with forensics, vulnerability management, and coordination with external parties.
- Project Management
- Proven experience in leading complex IT projects.
- Strategic Leadership
- Ability to align IT strategy with organizational goals, drive change, and solve problems in dynamic environments.
- Communication & Collaboration
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to present to diverse audiences.
- Experience building networks, partnerships, and providing training for staff.

- Knowledge of relevant legislation, provincial memorandums and Board policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with K-12 digital platforms preferred
- Experience with cross-functional teams, collective agreements, and multi locational work environments.
- Certifications such as PMP. CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CISO or equivalent are considered assets.
- Completion of a degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field. Advanced degrees or ongoing professional development are considered assets.
- Minimum seven years of progressive leadership experience in IT management, including responsibility for supervising staff and leading technology teams. Technology work experience in the K-12 sector is preferred.
