The successful candidate will support airport maintenance, airfield operations, and emergency response services, including Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF). This role is critical to maintaining a safe, compliant, and efficient airport environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance and Operations
- Perform maintenance of airport grounds, infrastructure, and facilities.
- Operate equipment used for runway, taxiway, and general property maintenance.
- Conduct inspections of airfields, lighting systems, and related infrastructure.
- Maintain logs, reports, and other operational records.
- Complete snow removal, landscaping, and general upkeep activities.
- Identify hazards and report maintenance or safety issues promptly.
- Participate in wildlife control and airfield safety programs.
- Respond to emergency incidents, including aircraft events, fires, spills, and medical situations.
- Operate emergency response vehicles and support airport emergency plans.
- Provide basic first aid and life support when required.
Core Qualifications
- Experience in firefighting or emergency response is required.
- Valid DZ Driver’s Licence.
- Ability to operate heavy and light maintenance equipment safely.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Strong awareness of safety, compliance, and operational procedures.
- Ability to remain calm and work effectively under pressure in emergency situations.
- Flexible availability for shift work and on-call requirements.
Required Certifications and Permits
- Transport Canada Security Clearance.
- Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP).
- Radio Telephone Operator’s Permit (within two weeks of hire).
