Presstran's lines of automotive stampings and welding assemblies are used in front motor compartments, underbody structures, truck frame components and front and rear suspensions as well as non-automotive applications.
 
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Engineering Coordinator-Assembly Process works closely with staff specialists/customers/suppliers to lead and access requirements for new and existing manufacturing processes within the plant.  They establishes process requirements regarding man, machine, material and method in the quoting stage, launch, engineering changes and continuous improvement in current production.  The Engineering Coordinator utilizes standard processing tools to evaluate new and existing processes to design the best equipment to meet our business needs, and is responsible for all aspects of the project, from its inception through PPAP, production and beyond.
 
RECOMMENDED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
 
  1. Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering with a min of 2 years of experience.
  2. Must have strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills.
  3. Experience in Manufacturing Assembly.
  4. Experience in processing equipment from inception to launch.
  5. Experience with various welding processes (e.g. Mig, Spot, Projection, etc.)
  6. Knowledge and experience in TPS systems is preferred.
  7. Ability to use CAD software.
  8. Must be knowledgeable in APQP, PDP, GD&T, PPAP, & PFMEA documentation and processes
  9. Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
 
DUTIES:
 
  1. Prepare capital quotation packages for approval as required.
  2. Capable of processing customer product through to the entire Assembly process.
  3. Leads and actively participates in continuous improvement events
  4. Develops, plans, manages and implements various projects for safety, quality and production improvements for the Assembly area
  5. Provides new product launch/changeover and engineering change support.
  6. Capable of managing and leading projects from inception to completion – timing, concept, feasibility, design, construction, try-out, launch, buy-off, budget, prototype programs and engineering changes.
  7. Prepares reports, charts, and other documentation required for engineering records and projects.
  8. Works closely with other departments and customers to design solutions to improve production processes, improve quality, reduce downtime, increase O.A., improve ergonomic design, and economic viability of our operation.
  9. Participate as required in all TS16949 activities such as PFMEA and APQP and CPMP.
  10. Participate in design reviews, equipment buy-offs, process reviews, in the launch of new equipment.
  11. Assist in training plant personnel when requested.
  12. Efficient in Basic Microsoft Office
  13. Comes to work each day, as scheduled.

  15. Conducts themselves in a professional manner when receiving or giving feedback/information, whether it is positive or constructive.
  16. Supports and models the Presstran operational procedures/policies, Employee Handbook and “How We Work Together”, Magna Employee’s Charter, Magna Corporate Constitution.
  17. Follows and complies with all operational procedures/policies as stated in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environmental programs (e.g.. TS16949, ISO14001).
  18. Required to adhere to all Health and Safety programs in accordance with the OHSA.   Follows and ensures the Company’s procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed throughout their assigned area.
EQUIPMENT and/or PRODUCT FAMILIARITY:
 
Software: Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and other Windows based environments.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS: 
Under the general direction of the Department Manager, must be able to work independently, conferring regularly with plant personnel and outside contractors. Works in an office environment but may be exposed to some elements such as working in confined/awkward positions with exposure to noise/temperature/heights.  A valid driver’s license and passport are required, as day travel is a requirement of the job; overnight travel occasionally.
