General Description:
This position is responsible for new product design and development including drawings, complete with part numbers and bill of materials. You will provide technical assistance to customers, customer service representatives, quality assurance personnel and production. This position will work closely with Marketing, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, Quality and Production to complete projects.

Skill/Effort Requirements:
•Experience in the heavy truck and trailer industry with sound knowledge of trailer body design, trailer axle applications, suspension selection, other related components (i.e. braking systems, wheels and tires, etc.) and industry regulations
•Experience in mechanical design/details including 3D modelling experience in one or more of the following: SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Catia, UG, 1-Deas, Pro/E (Solidworks preferred)

Responsibilities:
•Design new product/assemblies to fulfil customers’ requirements: starting from rough design concepts up to detail/final drawings
•Select components to meet design requirements
•Analyse designs for compliance to applicable standards (i.e. regulation and/or customer specific)
•Verify that clients design requirements have been met (and that they are by code)
•Maintain and organize design and project documentation per internal requirements (i.e. SR&ED)
•Develop Bills of materials for assembly and sub-assembly of product
•Participate actively in a coordinated, interdisciplinary team environment
•Willing to use ERP system modules related to design & manufacturing and enter data such as BoM’s and routings
