A full-time Professor at Fanshawe College is responsible for providing academic leadership and for developing an effective learning environment for students. The successful candidate will primarily teach courses in the Civil Engineering Program and be required to teach in all programs across the Donald J. Smith School of Building Technology.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Combination of excellent leadership and teaching skills with a strong commitment to academic excellence and student success
  • Excellent communicator
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to relate effectively to a wide variety of learners
  • Strong technical/computer skills and familiarity with educational technologies are required
  • Teaching experience with hybrid and/or online delivery preferred
  • Related industry work experience, previous college teaching experience and knowledge of curriculum design and student evaluations are assets

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Minimum 10 years recent and relevant Canadian industry experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered
  • A current designation of P.Eng preferred
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering with expertise in Geomatics and Municipal Engineering preferred
  • B.Ed or related teaching experience in PSE preferred
  • Must have experience in the following:  Geomatics, all aspects of plane surveying, total station, GIS and GPS
  • OLS designation an asset
  • Preference to have additional industry experience within civil engineering fields such as: Municipal, Environmental, Structural and Geotechnical Engineering
  • Demonstrated, applied knowledge and experience in an environment directly involved in the Civil Engineering sector of the building and infrastructure industry
  • Applied Research experience in civil engineering
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel) and related engineering computer software:  CAE, CAD packages such as AutoCAD, Autodesk/Civil 3D
Approximate Start Date: August 17, 2015
 
Salary: Determination of starting salaries is based on relevant teaching/occupational experience and relevant formal qualifications, supported with original transcripts from granting institutions. The salary scale is $59,653 to $103,412 along with a comprehensive benefit package.
 
Partial load or full-time academic staff presently employed with the College will be given first consideration in accordance with the Academic Collective Agreement.
 
While transcripts are not required for the interview, they are mandatory prior to any offer of employment.
