Cook Assistant – Summer Student

Quintin Warner House of Mission Services of London has an opening for a 7-week contract position as a Cook Assistant. This position will report to the Director of Quintin Warner House.

Qualifications (as stated by Service Canada; Canada Summer Jobs):

• You must be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment

• You must be registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year

• You intend to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year

• You are a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* and;

• You are legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations

• foreign students are not eligible

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Food preparation, which may involve desserts, snacks, salad bar

• Washing and storage of kitchen dishes, utensils and cookware using both automated and hand operated dishwashing systems

• Cleaning kitchen surfaces and floors

• Collection and disposal of kitchen and dining area related waste/recyclables

• Responsible for planting, weeding and harvesting plants/herbs in the garden.

Position Qualifications:

• Secondary School Diploma

• Food Handling Certificate

• 1 year Kitchen experience preferred

• Knowledge of WHMIS, First Aid, CPI

• Solid interpersonal skills

• Effective communication skills

• Physically fit, as some lifting may be required

• Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team

   

  Position Details

• Salary $ 15.53/hour

• 30 hours per week

• Contract for 7 weeks from start date (to be negotiated)
