                         Lead, Product Movement, Pick-up & Delivery

Mission Services of London (MSL), a Christian faith based, not-for-profit social service agency, has a full-time opening for a Lead, Product Movement, Pick-up &Delivery providing help with our product flow, donation pick-ups, and support to our many other branches. This position will report to the Store Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:  
Reporting to the Store Manager, responsible to manage incoming donations that require pick-up, extra care and movement from donors to the Mission Store, or around the organization.   Act as the lead in moving products and furniture around branches/sites as needed, while scheduling casual drivers (currently 1), caring for the vehicles involved (currently 1) and independently conducting pick-ups with the Mission Store van.    Carry a focus on the expansion of our furniture department and engage in recommending ideas for growth, innovation and changes. Learn and support all the duties of other Leads to share in responsibilities and coverage as needed (opening, closing and leading day-to-day store operations during times of coverage, and Store Manager’s vacation). A Lead, Product Movement, Pick-up &Delivery will:
 
  • Spend time between responding to donors, scheduling, supporting moving product to the store floor, conducting pick-ups, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the Mission Store.
  • Lead role in receiving and responding to all donation pick-up requests for the Mission Store.
  • Scheduling casual driver for some pick-ups, while also independently conducting larger pick-ups of furniture, or moving product as needed around sites.
  • Working alongside volunteers to ensure they are engaged, have what they need, and are cared for as they support the functions of the Mission Store.
  • Share in the day-to-day responsibilities of the store operations with the Leads team.  
  • Open and close the store as scheduled.
  • Keep Store Manager informed of any concerns or operational needs.
  • Keep Administrator informed of any inventory or ordering needs.
  • Ensure an ongoing understanding of day-to-day revenue goals and balance of labour and efficiencies are cared for.
  • Cover breaks for staff and volunteers as needed.
  • Act a supportive partner to our Fundraising/Development team for donation pick-ups from third party events/donors.
  • Act as a supportive partner to other branches when products/resources are requested from the Mission Store.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while adhering to operational and Health/Safety requirements.

Qualifications:
  • Completion of High School Diploma.
  • 1-2 years experience in retail.
  • 5 years of driving experience, with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Personable and respectful in dealing with service contracts, stakeholders, donors and customers.
  • Good knowledge of warehouse process support and safety.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • General mathematic skills.
  • Good knowledge of safe lifting techniques.
  • Experience working with volunteers is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Good computer skills for scheduling (experience in Microsoft Office 365 an asset)
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Physically fit - lifting, twisting, carrying, stocking shelves, and climbing ladders safely.  
  • Able to safely lift up to 50 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs in pairs.  
  • Flexibility and a willingness to respond to the needs of the organization. 
  • Current First Aid/CPR and/or Crisis Prevention Training an asset.
  • Ladder Safety / Safe Lifting training an asset. 
  • Experience in safely moving furniture an asset.  
  • Experience working within a social service agency an asset.

Position Details
  • Availability required: Monday through Saturdays 8am – 6pm.
  • 40 hours a week.  
  • Flexibility is needed to accommodate donor/event requests or specific branch needs. 
  • Pay Level 3.
