MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST

Great Lakes Copper is hiring a seasoned Mechanical Engineering Technologist to investigate, assess, design and manage assigned engineering products.

This Mechanical Engineering Technologist will provide mechanical and troubleshooting expertise to other Engineering and Maintenance staff. In this role, the Mechanical Engineering Technologist will investigate problems collaboratively with Production, Maintenance and other personnel, and may lead projects while working as a team member. In this variety-filled role, accountabilities include preparing drawings, CAD models using AutoCAD / SolidWorks and providing recommendation to meet the plant’s needs.
Accountabilities include formulating various engineering calculations such as speed, weights, forces and stresses), and applying these correctly in design and problem-solving projects. The position also involves application of hydraulics, pneumatics, drives, controls, fabrication techniques, etc. to engineering projects. In addition, our Mechanical Engineering Technologist manages projects, which includes preparing cost estimates, and leading or working with staff in Production, Maintenance, Engineering and outside contractors on the manufacturing and installation of assigned projects.

Candidates for the position should be a team player with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience and, ideally, at least 5 years of experience using SolidWorks. A desire and ability to contribute in a hands-on manner by preparing drawings, CAD models and recommendations is a must-have. Candidates will also possess a diplomas related to Mechanical Engineering Technology.
