Job Description
A Canadian leader in the automotive material handling industry has a permanent full-time opportunity for a Shipping Rack Designer. We deliver world class material handling solutions in a busy steel fabrication environment and are growing our team.
Primary duties include:
Position is Full Time- Permanent.
Primary duties include:
- Design shipping racks using SolidWorks and produce associated drawings
- Work with sales department and customers to understand product requirements and host product review meetings
- Support costing engineer and manufacturing department as required
- Work with prototype and production departments to ensure successful completion of customer orders in a job shop environment
- Engage with engineering and production departments for design reviews, build issue resolutions, new employee training, software testing and continuous improvements
- Post secondary education in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering
- Experience in a steel fabrication/weld environment
- Strong knowledge base in manufacturing processes (cut, form, weld, paint, assemble, injection mold, vac form) and materials (steel, foam, rubber, plastics, paint friendly fabrics, hardware)
- Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks (AutoCAD Inventor or Catia acceptable)
- Above average ability to propel multiple tasks to completion using strong organizational, computer, written & verbal communication, project management, conflict resolution and negotiation skills. Must demonstrate the ability to interact with customers and colleagues in a positive manner
