Position: Instructor – Enhanced Language Training (ELT) for Internationally Trained Healthcare Professionals
Location: Remote/In-Person (London, Ontario)
Start Date: January 15, 2024 (tentative)
Schedule: Monday – Friday 6:00pm-8:30pm (12.5 hours/week)
Salary: $32.96 - $42.54/hour depending on qualifications and experience

In this role, you will:
• Follow YMCA of Southwestern Ontario policy and procedures.
• Act as a YMCA ambassador, demonstrating YMCA core values in your daily work.
• Provide language instruction to adult newcomers either in-person, online, or in a blended format following prepared curriculum.
• Deliver 10-week, 10-module (125hrs) ELT course online in Avenue and/or in-person to newcomers working in CLB 6-8 with international experience/education in the healthcare field (10 hours synchronous & 2.5 hours asynchronous - weekly)
• Support students in developing their English listening, speaking, reading, and reflective writing skills around healthcare-related topics, enabling them to pursue further studies in the healthcare field or reenter their professional careers in Canada.
• Maintain students’ attendance records.
• Observe students' performance and record relevant data and feedback to assess participation.
• Prepare written reports; participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
• Work in partnership with the ELT Settlement Advisor while reporting to the ELT Project Manager.

Education and Skills Qualifications:
• Must have a university degree.
• A Canadian teaching certificate of authorization issued by a provincial institution or a provincial ministry and/or TESL Ontario (OCELT) certification are assets.
• Must have CLB Bootcamp - https://www.language.ca/workshopstraining/clb-bootcamp/
• Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office applications and online conferencing platforms: TEAMS/Big Blue Button
• Proficiency in Avenue.ca required (Avenue Stage 2 or Stage 3 certification preferred).
• Minimum 2 years of experience delivering LINC/ESL/ELT programs to adult learners.
• Background in or strong knowledge of the Canadian healthcare field an asset.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work well independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to be very diplomatic when dealing with clients.
• Current and acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is a condition of employment for all staff and volunteers.
• Legally entitled to work in Canada.
