Summary: Pillar is seeking a strategic, results-oriented manager with a proven track record in innovative program management and high-quality service delivery to lead the award winning DiverseCity onBoard program; a new provincial project funded by Ontario Trillium Foundation is in partnership with Hamilton Centre for Civic Inclusion, Volunteer Ottawa, Pillar Nonprofit Network and Maytree-Ryerson Global Diversity Exchange.
 
The goal of the initiative is to connect qualified candidates from diverse communities with governance opportunities on boards of public agencies, boards and commissions and nonprofit organizations.
 
The successful candidate will have the capacity to market, grow, monitor, and strengthen the program using their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.  
 
Duties & Responsibilities:
 
Provincial Program Lead:
  • Lead the initiative and ensure that strategic vision and operational goals are on track
  • Convene meetings of the collaborative
  • Set agenda for quarterly and other regular meetings of the collaborative
  • Establish continuous communication channels among the collaborative
  • Coordinate meetings with external stakeholders
  • Lead joint approach to resolve issues
  • Lead discussion of shared measurement systems
  • Establish mechanisms for members of the collaborative to hold each other accountable
  • Meet with funder
  • Prepare and submit all applications and reports to funder related to project
  • Manage finances related to project
  • Establish the collaborative’s quarterly meeting schedule 
  • Determine schedule of internal reporting
  • Lead discussion and agreement on key staff competencies and criteria
  • Lead discussion and agreement on evaluation criteria and design of metrics
  • Coordinate schedule of collaborative events (launch, Year 3 awards), and newsletter
 
Local Lead:
  • Marketing and promotion of DiverseCity onBoard program with key stakeholders, partners, media, underrepresented communities and potential candidates for the program
  • Expanding the reach of the program in new sectors and regions in London
  • Implement new social enterprise model for revenue generation for program
  • Maintaining a grasp on governance training and trends
  • Deliver presentations about DiverseCity onBoard program
  • Develop and disseminate information packages to recruit candidates
  • Screen, interview, and advise candidates based on program criteria
  • Update candidate profiles on the website and follow up with candidates as required
  • Support the development and implementation of the e-learning platform and governance training modules
  • Work with DiverseCity onBoard Central to ensure commitments of Operating Model are met
Other Responsibilities
  • Participate in office coverage duties, as needed
  • Participate as required, in any event, program or project sponsored by Pillar Nonprofit Network
  • Promote Pillar membership services to eligible organizations
  • Contribute to the Pillar team, including collaborative initiatives
  • Attend professional development opportunities as appropriate
  • All other duties as assigned
 
Desired Qualifications:
 
  • Post-secondary education
  • 3 or more years of management experience
  • Knowledge of governance issues and trends
  • Experience with complex collaborative partnerships
  • Capable of demonstrating independence and an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service, presentation and marketing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, build relationships, communicate effectively, and work in a team environment
  • Knowledge and experience with computer programs (Microsoft Office Suite, database management) and social media
  • Must be a team player and have a strong personal commitment to the nonprofit sector

Terms and Conditions:
 
  • This is a full-time, contract position for 3 years with possibility of extension as this is a social enterprise model and therefore there is an opportunity for sustainability
  • There is some evening and weekend work required
  • Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience
  • This position is available immediately
