Job Description

Summary:
Our London, ON area client is looking to hire a Quality Technician to join their team.  This position will oversee quality area including, approving decisions of non-conformances, investigating preventive corrective actions and auditing necessary work orders and purchase orders. Ensures the control of internal and external standards. Trains quality procedures to employees where required.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Establish and maintain visual quality standards. Develop and maintain inspection standards.
  • Understand all details and maintain copies of customer and industrial standards.
  • Train and\or assist in training employees in areas of quality, measuring, company standards, or in any area deemed appropriate.
  • Investigate to determine root causes and possible corrective actions of any quality issues.
  • Confers with other employees and coordinators to discuss discrepancies.
  • Supervises and participates in the quality inspection duties and responsibilities.
  • Responsible for department housekeeping and routine care of machines.
  • Assist with QA Inspection as needed
  • Help develop company policies W.I.’s and procedures
  • Performs other related duties as required by the Engineering Manager.
  • Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, health and safety, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning assisting, and directing work; appraising performance. Follows current policies, procedures and instructions as laid out in the Company’s manuals.
 
Education and/or Experience:        
 
  • Manufacturing Engineering Technicians and/or Quality Program diploma; minimum two-years related experience and /or training. Basic computer skills including Word, Excel, CAD and CorelDraw.  Must be prepared to receive instructional training in operating colorimeter and/or spectrophotometer. Certified Quality Technician (CQT) preferred. Automotive experience an asset.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general work orders, company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Ability to write reports, procedures, and work instructions. Ability to effectively present information to and respond to questions in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization, including managers, salespersons and employees.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to accurately use measuring equipment and be able to interpret blueprints.
