Job Description

Veterinary Purchasing Co. Ltd. (VP) located in St. Marys, Ontario, is the largest Veterinary Supplier in Ontario and is currently looking to add a dynamic individual within our I.T. department for the full-time position of:

IT Business Analyst

Reporting to the I.T. Manager, the IT Business Analyst will work closely with internal stakeholders to identify technical needs, define solutions, and maximize opportunities. The IT Business Analyst will lead the research and solution of complex problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Provide project and systems support, as well as guidance throughout the complete Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC), encompassing requirements gathering, systems design, testing, implementation, and project management
  • Manage day to day projects using project management standards, tools, checklists and processes
  • Engage business partners and SMEs to decompose high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements at an appropriate level of detail suitable to ensure that development and implementation meet business strategies
  • Document user system requirements using structured and well-defined system methodologies in support of further solution implementation
  • Assist in the development, testing, and implementation of new/enhanced ERP system software, to meet user requirements according to policies, procedures, and controls, changing circumstances, and existing inefficiencies
  • Work closely with development staff and software vendors on application changes.
  • Execute business acceptance testing; preparation of test strategies and plans; execution of test cases; documentation of results and filing of defects that are in accordance with established guidelines
  • Develop SOPs, FAQs, and training materials where needed
  • Assist in the transfer of skills gained through training and experience to other members of staff
  • Provide application support to users and liaising where necessary with vendors as part of the problem resolution process
  • Ensure adherence to change management policy and procedures
  • Comply with security measures and internal control procedures and reduce non-compliance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
 
The successful Candidate:
  • Is highly motivated, like to take initiative and will possess excellent analytical, and organizational skills
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Will have a desire to learn new technologies and work in varying business functional areas
  • Is proficient with personal computer productivity tools such as Microsoft Office, MS Outlook, and Project Management
  • Is skilled in project management and able to identify and potentially mitigate roadblocks on critical path.
  • Project Management Certification would be an asset
  • Is expected to think critically, make decisions, prioritize issues, drive desired results, and deal effectively with a variety of individuals and groups
  • 3+ years relevant experience
  • 3+ years post-secondary education
