Under the direction of the General Manager, Food Services Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the Food Service Department, providing an environment of hospitality service excellence for Residents guests and families.

Responsibilities Include:

• Develop the vision and standards for the department by which quality service to the residents is delivered within the operational financial expectations, maintaining purchasing and inventory controls.
• Assist in preparation of rotational menus with resident input and personal reflective choice patterns. Ensure the food services department is meeting residents’ nutritional needs, follows the Canada Food Guide for Seniors, and offers a variety of foods to enhance the dining experience of residents. Complete a nutritional profile for new residents and update as required. 
• Provide leadership, motivation, development and support to food services team members. Initiate and provide staff recruitment, orientation and in-service programs; evaluate staff levels, performance and routines to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
• Manage responsibilities in accordance with all government and regulatory requirements, and the policies and high standards of the organization. Deal personally with Public Health and any other official personnel during food service inspections.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Chef/Cook certification, preferably Red Seal and Food Services management certificate from a recognized college. 
• Experience with quantity food preparation and execution, ideally in a Retirement Living environment. Demonstrated skills planning, coordinating and supervising food services programs. Knowledge of the food services needs of the elderly.
• Strong team member philosophy and ability to work independently in a fast paced work environment. Leadership and teaching skills; experience in recruitment, policy development, and health and safety standards. 
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of all regulations under the Acts that govern the standards in health care facilities.
• Ability to meet time and financial restraints in service to residents and be effective prioritizing with multiple interruptions in daily routine.
• Food Safety Certification is required
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
