The Student Experience Portfolio facilitates the development of career, educational, and life competencies for students.  This is achieved through programs and services that guide successful transitions, foster local and global citizenship, promote leadership opportunities, encourage personal growth and promote academic excellence, deliver career resources, develop learning skills, support mental health and wellness, and ignite active engagement for international and domestic students.

The Director of Administration is accountable for the management of the administrative operations of the Student Experiences Portfolio.  The incumbent manages the allocation of financial, human and physical resources and implements business processes to support the financial, operational and legal risk to the Portfolio.  The incumbent will be responsible for developing and presenting reports regarding challenges and successes and making recommendations for administrative tactics which will enable the Portfolio to achieve its goals and strategies. 

The Director of Administration will be accountable for strategic and tactical planning, as well as coaching and mentoring their team.  The incumbent will work in conjunction with the Financial Officer to develop and analyze revenue and expense models for the financial resources, supporting decisions regarding the allocation of resources and offerings of programs.  The incumbent will also implement appropriate business processes and controls and monitor their effectiveness.

Education:
-   Honors Bachelor Degree
-   Canadian Institute of Management (CIM) Designation, Accounting Designation (CMA, CPA, CA) or MBA preferred

Experience:
-   5 Years' experience leading a team to implement operational and administrative procedures for a business
-   Strong people management experience with direct accountability for recruitment, on-going training and development, and performance management
-   Experience in education or public sector preferred

Skills & Expertise:
-   Business acumen with an advanced understanding of quality standards relative to operational improvement, strategic planning and business growth
-   Advanced ability to effectively communicate, lead business discussions and train others
-   Demonstrated oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on proposal development and presentation to internal contacts up to senior management
-   Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to coach team members as well as support internal/external clients
-   Creative problem solving skills and sound professional judgment, with a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and opportunities, especially regarding confidential/sensitive matters
-   Ability to synthesize sizable amounts of detail/data
-   Ability to identify, quantify and recommend controls to manage risk to an organization
-   Demonstrated analytical ability with a working knowledge or accounting principles, revenue projections and financial statements
-   Results oriented with an ability to handle many tasks and maintain a high level of individual and team performance
-   Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office
-   Proven ability to take initiative and champion a project from conception through implementation and evaluation
-   Demonstrated staff management experience with an ability to develop a strong department team coupled with an ability to work effectively as a member of the management team
