Purpose of Job:
This role is responsible for maintaining and promoting occupational health and safety measures in the organization, and ensuring employees acknowledge and adhere to safety programs.The role is also responsible for analysing training needs, development, implementation, coordination, and facilitation of company training and development programs. 

Principal Accountabilities:
 
Health and Safety:
  • Ensure compliance with all Hydra Dyne H&S standards and applicable legislated requirements.
  • Assist in development, review & implementation of new safety policies and programs, including, training, processes and procedures.
  • Proactively identify hazardous conditions and ensure appropriate corrective actions are identified and completed in a timely fashion.
  • Participate in accident / incident investigations as required and conduct workplace inspections.
  • Coordinate and represent Hydra Dyne as member of safety group.
  • Coordinate and co-chair quarterly JHSC meetings, recording and distribution of minutes.
  • Responsible for collection of Health & Safety attendance sheets.
  • Manage the WSIB Claims Management and Return to Work processes.
  • Responsible for WSIB contractor compliance.
  • Maintain MSDS and update H&S Bulletin boards.
  • Monthly analysis of accidents and injuries and compilation of monthly safety reports including the updating of period reports, statistical data.
  • Ensure that personal protective equipment is provided and being utilized.
Training:
  • Consults with managers and supervisors to assess training needs.
  • Facilitate training courses for new and existing staff, according to business needs and with the highest quality.
  • Coordinate training with external vendors as well as developing and delivering in-house H&S training, inclusive of clear training materials (presentations, worksheets, work instructions, e-books, etc.).
  • Assist with orientation process and conduct formal H&S orientations.
  • Maintain and update Training Matrices and training records.
  • Evaluate various methods and techniques for measuring learning success and impact on future performance.
  • Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Education:
  • University / College degree related to Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Minimum 1-3 years’ related experience in a manufacturing industry.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Desire to get out and about the facility, completing daily walk troughs and inspections in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience as a Joint Health & Safety Committee Member.
  • JHSC Certification Part 1 and 2 is an asset
  • Ability to confidently conduct orientations and employee training.
  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Responsible, conscientious, and detailed work ethic required.
  • Strong PC skills and experience with Microsoft Office software applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Seeks out and applies best practices as solutions to correct deficiencies,
  • Continues to examine learning opportunities in safety and for personal growth.
