Wonder Sushi is a recently established and growing sushi company located in North London, Ontario. We serve sushi, sashimi & rolls along with cooked Japanese cuisines in an airy, casual and bright space.  We bring together a dynamic team of people with diverse backgrounds, experience and talent. Together we create exceptional guest experience serving handcrafted sushi each and every day.
 
We are now seeking an experienced full-time (32 + hours) Supervisor/Head Sushi Chef for our establishment on 735 Wonderland Road, London, Ontario.
 
The right candidate will exhibit culinary talents by personally performing tasks while leading the team and managing all the food related functions.  This includes ability to coordinate menus, purchasing, and staffing and food preparations for a sushi bar. The ability to work with a team and past experience maintaining the operating budget is essential.  Must also ensure sanitation and food standards are achieved. Develop and train team to improve results.
 
Supervisor/Head Sushi Chef:
 
The Supervisor /Head Sushi Chef is specifically responsible for the management of Wonder Sushi’s sushi bar including directing and monitoring daily work activities relating to sushi production, as well as supervising and coaching teammates to ensure high levels of product quality and guest service are achieved.
 
Core Job Responsibilities:
 
* Responsible for the day to day management and operations of the establishment, including people management, food safety, guest services, sales and food quality.
* Deliver excellent guest service to all customers by acting with a customer comes first attitude and connecting with the customer. Discovers and responds to customer needs.
* Ensure that labour and production plans are regularly amended to maximize profitability, through a combination of sales optimization and waste control.
* Ensure strict compliance and provide coaching to teammates regarding Wonder Sushi’s regulatory requirements such as quality assurance and food safety, health and safety standards, and inventory levels, and ensuring all required corrective action is taken promptly.
* Ensure daily production reports, payroll, checklists and reports are completed accurately for operational matters.
* Work alongside teammates to prepare and produce food items from the Wonder Sushi menu, including sushi, hot food items, and side dishes.
* Work closely with the teammates to ensure established standards and product specification is being adhered to (i.e. recipe, ingredients and weights, presentation and display, policies and guidelines).
* Oversee staffing level including hiring, training and developing the right people to match business needs.
* Build and maintain strong customer relationships with store management and third party auditors and third party vendors.
* Participate in month inventory counts, and quality assurance and compliance audits.
* Additional duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications:
 
* Minimum 4 years of chef experience in Japanese cuisine
OR
* 2 – year degree from an accredited university/college in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management or related major; with 2 year experience in the Japanese cuisine culinary, food and beverage or related professional area.
* Demonstrated experience in managing a food service environment.
* Ability to speak, read and write English effectively.
* Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to build customer relationships.
 
Salary:
*$19.00 per hour
*32 hours per week
