Job Summary

The Collections Customer Service Representative is a front line member of Canaccede's operating team. As a Collections Customer Service Representative you are responsible for managing your own portfolio of collection accounts and executing Canaccede’s established practices and procedures for contacting debtors and creating solutions for closing outstanding debts, including payouts, settlement plans and payment arrangements.

We offer training, benefits, and incentive programs to all our Collections Agents.

What does a typical day look like?

  • Answer incoming calls from debtors
  • Undertake debtor trace and locate efforts using search engines
  • Notify debtors of overdue accounts and payments through phone or mail
  • Set up and document payment arrangements with debtors
  • Obtain and record current financial data from debtors
  • Recommend account closure if payments are not being received
  • Maintain records and files for customer accounts
  • Coordinate messages to debtors, managing current paying accounts with reminder messages
  • Ensure debtors are on an ongoing payment plan
  • Maintain accurate and updated file notes for ongoing history and referencing
  • Find assets for debtors in case possible enforcements are necessary, such as places of employment for garnishment, new addresses which could possibly be owned by debtors and subject to writ enforcement
  • Consult with and/or co-ordinate activities with other employees of the organization

What qualifications are required for this position?

  • 2+ years’ experience in customer service, preferably within financial services collections environment
  • OSSD or equivalent
  • Education or training in financial services is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Work and Outlook
  • Proficiency with CRM systems
  • Ability to analyze and interpret then negotiate the needs of clients and offer the appropriate options, solutions and resolutions
  • Ability to manage complex debtor situations to exceed performance goals
  • Capability to adapt to change quickly
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team/group, providing professional advice or direction to other employees as necessary
  • Available to work a variety of shifts, within the hours of operation
  • Satisfactory reference check (credit, criminal, professional)

What type of scheduling does Canaccede Financial Group offer?

This permanent role requires shift flexibility during hours of operation (Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM). Our office is closed on Sundays so you're guaranteed at least one day off each weekend. In times when we have an increased volume of work, you will have the option to volunteer for extra paid time. At no time will the company mandate for you to work additional hours.

Our full-time employees are scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week within the hours of operation.Part-time employees are scheduled for less than 37.5 hours per week, based on business and employee need.
