Our client, a busy logistics company, has an immediate opening for a Dispatcher to effectively manage and provide ongoing communication, guidance, training, performance enhancement, and act as an advocate and single point content for the drivers assigned to your group. Hours for this position are Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6pm-6am. This is a permanent full time position.

Primary Responsibilities:
 

• Monitor incoming satellite messages and calls to ensure prompt response
• Check the accuracy of every drivers estimated/projected ETA/PTA and availability and make necessary updates; complete any necessary corrective action and follow up with appropriate parties
• Promote driver retention
• Manage time off requests
• Respond to drivers requests

Secondary Functions:
 

• Update customer websites and spreadsheets
• Communicate all load related issues
• Monitor and help control tracking of logistics equipment
• Hand out driver supplies
• Hand out and receive paperwork relating to assigned trips
• Check driver files for personal and tractor info
• Communicate any outstanding issues
• Communicate with driver and planner to confirm availability for work assignment
• Attend trainings sessions/programs
• Manage breakdown situations and communicate via email strings

Supervision:
 

• Directly responsible for over 176 drivers and or owners

Your contributions:
 

• Knowledge of and experience in the transportation industry, minimum 1 year dispatch or similar experience
• Geographical knowledge of North America
• Effective trip planning skills
• Strong computer skills (MS Office)

• Effective communication skills (listening, oral and written)
• Strong attention to detail and multitasking abilities in high pressure situations
• Current knowledge of safety, Canadian and U.S. federal regulations and all state and provincial regulations
• A positive attitude
• Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
• This position is NOT located on a bus route so candidates must have reliable transportation
• Clear criminal background check will be required
• Candidates must be interested in weekend/night shifts (Friday, Saturday and Sunday 6pm-6am)

Perks
 

• Salary range between $40,000 and $42,000 per year
