Job Description

Southwestern Ontario Student Transportation Services (STS) is a transportation consortium responsible for the daily management of student transportation within Elgin, Middlesex and Oxford counties for the 2 coterminous school boards.   In excess of 1,100 school bus routes carry approximately 50,000 students to and from school safely, each way, every day.  More information regarding our organization is available at www.mybigyellowbus.ca.

The STS team is a motivated group of transportation professionals who take great pride in the work we do every day.  Student safety is our priority and we work cooperatively with the bus companies under contract to us to ensure excellence in service delivery.  Effective communication with parents and school staff is an on-going and critical part of our jobs.

We are currently seeking a Service Coordinator to join our team.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and implementation of student transportation solutions through the use of a computerized planning software program.

The Service Coordinator will plan routes and maximize system efficiencies within prescribed parameters set out in STS policies and procedures, related policies and procedures defined by member school boards and/or applicable legislative requirements.   A high level of sensitivity and confidentiality is expected.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and abilities:

  • a diploma or degree in Planning, Geography, GIS or other related discipline.  In lieu of the educational requirements, a minimum of five (5) years of directly related work experience may be considered;
  • a minimum of three (3) years experience in computer software, G.I.S (preferably in a transportation or related environment) and advanced computer skills using software applications;
  • proven ability to manage multiple priorities, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with a customer service oriented approach.

 

This is a one year contract position.  The salary is $50, 944.  There are no health benefits or pension contributions associated with this contract position.
