With the assistance of the design and production team, the Project Manager will be responsible for the quality, scope, schedule, strategies, and cost, establishing new, and building on existing relationships while delivering projects on time and on budget in alignment with the organization’s business strategy, commitments, and goals.

You bring a successful history in preparation, execution and alignment of various complimentary interests.  Must be conversant in estimating, pricing, RFQs and RFIs, budgeting and negotiations. 

As Project Manager your duties will include:
  • Reviewing successful bids with the Estimator and assessing Tender Documents, Contract Drawings, Specifications, and Addendums to understand scope Identify discrepancies between tender documents, client purchase orders and issued for construction documents to determine cost and schedule implications
  • Collaborating  with the Estimator in the negotiation of letters of intent and purchase orders with clients
  • Identifying project constraints, limitations and special provisions
  • Generating, submitting and following-up on RFI’s
  • Delegating relevant tasks to design/drafting department
  • Performing material take-offs and labour allocation
  • Preparing and distributing material and sub-contractor RFQ packages, evaluate and award contracts based on price, quality, service and value-added options
  • Monitoring material orders and sub-contractor quality and progress
  • Strategize and plan elements of the project utilizing software including AutoCAD, MS Excel and MS Project
  • Creating project work plans, direct and monitor production activities and progress and adapt the plan to meet changes in schedule, progress, and requirements
  • Conducting site meetings with client and installation supervisor to communicate site requirements and verify site conditions, etc.
  • Estimating, preparing, submission and negotiation of change orders to address changes in scope and schedule
  • Building relationships with clients, owners, consultants and other stakeholders
  • Managing the project budget and ensure accurate and timely invoicing and receivables
  • Communicating with Estimating staff to monitor labour trends, improved techniques, evaluation of sub-contractors, etc., to continually improve estimating and production
Qualifications and Skills Required attributes:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • A positive, can-do attitude with excellent written and oral communication skills, a willingness to learn and share new ideas
  • Organized, self-motivated, able to multi-task and manage time efficiently
  • Advanced leadership skills
  • Advanced knowledge of construction contracts, materials, techniques and equipment
Preference will be given to candidates that:
  • Have a post-secondary education Project Management, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field
  • Have 5 years of experience as a project manager in the steel industry
  • An advanced knowledge of steel, metal fabrication, structural steel assembly, installation, and welding
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Project and Adobe
