Full Time Direct Care Worker
Contract till July 2018

This role involves working in an open custody and detention facility for male youth aged 12-17.  The successful candidate will have a strong background in residential services for youth and be responsible for all aspects of child and youth work including shift leadership, safety, and security.  The schedule for this position involves both evenings and weekends.
 
Qualifications:

• Demonstrated understanding of youth behaviour and the Youth Justice System
• Able to establish therapeutic relationships on the basis of respect and trust
• Willingness to promote our Corporate philosophy
• Ability and willingness to lead youth through a process of self-evaluation and goal setting consistent with Cognitive Behaviour Theory and Lead Management
• Ability to write clear, concise observations of youth behaviour
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to use sound judgment and make independent decisions based on Policies & Procedures
• Demonstrated core competencies for the position
• Proven computer skills, Microsoft Office preferred
• Post Secondary education in a related field
• Minimum of two (2) years experience in a youth residential setting
• Valid Ontario (G) Driver’s Licence, current Police Records Check & Vulnerable Position Screening, Standard First Aid with CPR, PMAB Certificate
• Case management experience
• Bilingualism Considered an asset

 
Work Location:         King Street Detention Centre – London, ON
 
Starting Wage:          $22.05 per hour plus 4% vacation pay
