What is an IT Project Coordinator?

The IT Project Coordinator serves as a project coordinator across several projects (both IT initiatives, and the IT component of other department’s projects). Manages the relationships with other departments Project Coordinators/Managers, and accountable for IT project deliverables. Assists IT Delivery Manager in keeping up to date on developments and maintaining project documentation and status reporting. Schedules and attends meetings, while providing support to other ITS teams as required.

Job Summary

  • Support the IT department in the administration of project detail as well as assisting with development of project plans and project deliverables
  • Acts as Program Manager role type within the deliver phase of the Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF)
  • Responsible for scheduling and project delivery, under the Deliver Phase of the MOF
  • Support the entire project team with various tasks to ensure project execution which will include being accountable in the execution/management of project subtasks
  • Assist in the coordination of project meetings, capturing outcomes and action items
  • Ability to update project management documents on an on-going basis.
  • Monitor and Track project team activities and raise risks or issues as appropriate
  • Follow up with the project team on outstanding actions, risks, issues
  • Consolidating, formatting, and proof reading deliverables
  • Assist in the development and publishing of project reporting from affected project team members
  • Maintains relationships with other department Project Managers/Coordinators to ensure open lines of communication and transparency
  • Liaise and support ITS Business Analysts to ensure requirements and milestones are tracked and moving forward
  • Partners with stakeholders in ITS and the business to improve processes

Our Ideal Candidate

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of information technology, computer science or business administration or equivalent experience
  • 2 – 5 years of experience in managing small to medium sized projects
  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, open environment
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) designation would be an asset
  • Knowledge of Agile and traditional Project Management methodologies
  • Excellent verbal, presentation and written communications skills
  • Functional experience with Agile and ITIL Service Based Methodologies
  • Ability to understand complex business issues
  • Proficient in the use of a Project Management software tool such as Microsoft Project
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications – Excel, Word, Powerpoint
  • Proficient in the use of the Google for Work productivity suite
  • Able to identify and escalate issues that put schedule(s) at risk and offer mitigation advice

  • Some travel to clubs and conferences required
