Reporting to the President, the Controller will be responsible for the following:
Financial Management & Reporting
  • Assist and oversee accounting functions, including AP, AR, and Payroll.
  • Prepare annual year-end working papers and financial statements for primary business entities and coordinate with external accountants.
  • Prepare quarterly and semi-annual internal financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with all required filings, including T2, T4, WSIB, EHT, HST, and UHT (rental properties).
  • Manage rental income schedules
Compliance & Taxation
  • Ensure all government filings and tax payments are completed accurately and on time.
  • Review and submit tax filings prepared by external accountants.
  • Monitor and manage banking activity, ensuring timely payments and compliance.
Software & IT Coordination
  • Utilize Sage 50 and Sage 100 for financial operations. 
  • Troubleshoot accounting software issues and coordinate with external IT support as needed.
  • Implement software updates and ensure smooth system operations.
Business Support
  • Work closely with business owners and internal accounting teams to oversee financial accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to AP and AR teams across multiple businesses.

Qualifications:
  • 5–7 years of proven experience in a relevant accounting management/supervisory role. A CPA designation is considered an asset.   
  • Strong proficiency/working experience with Sage 50 is mandatory.  Experience with Sage 100 Contractor is considered an asset.
  • Proven ability to manage tax compliance, government filings, and financial reporting.
  • Strong working knowledge of AP, AR, payroll systems, and rental income schedules.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively across departments.
  • Comfortable troubleshooting accounting software and collaborating with IT support.
