The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry provides outstanding education within a research-intensive, distributed learning environment where tomorrow's physicians, dentists and health researchers and other scholars learn to be socially responsible leaders in the advancement of human health.  Information Services (IS) provides high quality Information Technology and Management services to the School of Medicine & Dentistry in support of the School's mission.

The Business System Analyst will work closely with the Dental Management System Steering Committee and the Project Management & Business Support Office in order to scope, define and develop thorough functional business requirements into technical solutions which will be used in sourcing suitable software for Clinical Patient Management , Resource and other scheduling.  In conjunction with the stakeholders, the Business System Analyst will work on coordinating a request for proposal (RFP) to source a software solution that will meet the needs of Schulich Dentistry as well as evaluate the proposals and finalize the vendor selection.  The incumbent will take the lead, with input from the stakeholders, to work closely with the vendor to ensure that the needs of the business are met.   The incumbent will require a solid understanding of business processes and where they will need to change to adapt to a new software solution.  The Business System Analyst will also provide or ensure critical support, training, troubleshooting and end-user documentation to Dentistry.

Education:
-   College Diploma in Business Administration, Computer Science or Information Systems
-   University degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or Information Systems preferred

Experience:
-   3 years' experience with large information technology projects such as health informatics, enterprise resource, or scheduling systems
-   Demonstrated experience in overseeing the direction, development, and implementation of software products/systems; and with process management methodologies
-   Experience within a health care/post secondary academic environment preferred

Skills & Expertise:
-   Excellent skills in eliciting, analyzing, specifying, validating and documenting business needs of project stakeholders
-   Proven ability in translating business needs into functional system requirements
-   Excellent knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies
-   Organized, with direct experience with project-based work structures, and development project lifecycles
-   Proven ability to design and deliver training material to end users
-   A well defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, facilitation and conflict resolution skills
-   Professional, with an ability to develop and foster peer-to-peer, credible relationships with medical and dental experts/decision makers
-   Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
-   Extensive knowledge of business issues and processes as well as IT resources and enabling technologies
-   Proven ability to work independently, take initiative and champion a project from conception through implementation to evaluation
-   Demonstrated oral and written communication skills with emphasis on proposal and RFP development and presentation to internal stakeholders up to senior management levels
-   Business acumen with advanced understanding of quality standards relative to operational improvement and strategic planning
-   Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment
-   Experience presenting complex material in an understandable format to large groups
-   Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office including Visio and Project
-   Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to coach team members as well as support internal/external clients
-   Demonstrated ability to apply creativity, innovation and resourcefulness to daily work
-   Working knowledge of modern computer networks and operating systems
