Job Description

Great Lakes Copper Inc. is a privately owned Canadian Controlled Corporation located in London Ontario with an off-site warehouse.
Great Lakes has been in business since 1958 as a fully integrated copper tube manufacturing facility  producing a broad assortment of high quality products, selling in both Canada and the U.S.
 
We have a full time position available in our I.T. Department for a PC Maintenance Technician.  This position will work collaboratively with the I.T. Department and business partners to support, define and analyze business requirements related to the I.T. Systems at Great Lakes Copper Inc.
 
FUNCTION:
 
The position will maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair computer systems, hardware and computer peripherals. Document, maintain, upgrade or replace hardware and software systems. Support and maintain user account information including rights, security and systems groups. The position will also maintain the networking infrastructure, photocopiers, fax machines, printers, phone system and security camera system.
 
 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
 
The position reports directly to the I.T. Manager.
 
 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  1. Work with the I.T. department and business partners to maintain, analyze , troubleshoot, and repair computer systems, hardware and computer peripherals
  2. Work with the I.T. department and business partners to upgrade or replace hardware and software systems. Support and maintain user account information including rights, security and systems groups
  3. Work with the I.T. department and business partners to maintain the networking infrastructure, photocopiers, fax machines, printers, phone system and security camera system.
  4. Provide front line user support, working with the I.T. department and business partners to prioritize and resolve issues as they arise.
  5. Order hardware and software, code all invoices, and maintain inventory documentation of all hardware, software and licenses.
  6. Provide on-call after hours support as needed.There may be times when the candidate is required to be on-site at either the London facility or Warehouse after hours.
  7. Other duties as required to support the I.T. department.
     
     

SKILLS REQUIRED:

 
  • Post-secondary education in the I.T. field with knowledge of PC maintenance, software installation and basic networking functions.
  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Proven planning, documenting and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to create and foster a continuous improvement culture, act as a role model for change.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects from user request to implementation.
  • Strong commitment and work ethic.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Awareness of IT industry trends.
  • Working in a manufacturing environment.
     
    TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
     
  • Familiarity with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Capability to support other networking hardware and software such as phones, security cameras, faxes, printers, wiring.
  • Knowledge of preparing, installing and maintaining all network devices.
  • General knowledge of servers, setting up of profiles, and security.
  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Powerpoint
  • Experience supporting I.T. users in a fast paced environment
  • An overall working knowledge of PCs, LANS and peripherals.
     
     
    Salary will be based on experience.
     
    Job commences July 2nd, 2014.
