Brescia University College campus is situated on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabeg, Haundenosaunee, Lunaapéewak and Chonnonton Nations. Brescia is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to fill a position as:

                                                   Residence Life Coordinator – Student and Guest Services
                                                                   (Contract - Temporary Full time – 35 hours/week plus on call rotation)

                                                                                     Hourly rate - $26.29

The Residence Life Coordinator promotes an atmosphere which supports academic achievement and fosters responsible decision-making. The Coordinator contributes to students “learning outside the classroom” through the support and implementation of various community development initiatives within residence.  The Coordinator helps supervise Residence Staff, provides student support, and refers students to campus resources appropriately. This role works collaboratively with others to foster learning opportunities by building community, addressing student needs and managing behaviour and, using a restorative justice framework. The Coordinator works collaboratively to develop initiatives that meet the continually changing needs of students and coordinates administrative functions within the residence building in a manner which is consistent with Brescia University’s strategic directions and goals. The Coordinator plays an important role in the provision of high quality residence – a critical element in the recruitment and retention of students at Brescia University College.

The successful candidate will have:
  • Bachelor’s degree required preferably in psychology, sociology, social work, education, or related field as determined by the Department
  • Minimum two years of previous living/working experience in a residence life environment.
  • Experience overseeing staff/volunteers.
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, discretion, and good judgement.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to motivate, engage and align staff and/or volunteers.
  • Experience in mediating conflict and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with developing and conducting training sessions/workshops.
  • Ability to work a very flexible schedule, perform duties independently and within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to set acceptable personal and professional boundaries while providing support, guidance, and direction to students & staff.
  • Valid CPR/First Aid
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • ASIST Certified
  • Mental Health First Aid
