Catering and Event Supervisor
1 Position, Full Time
Edgar & Joes Cafe

Reporting to the Manager of Food and Hospitality, the Catering and Event Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of all event and food & beverage functions held within the facility (the Goodwill Centre at 255 Horton Street, London, Ont.).
 
Responsibilities:
This role is considered a “working” Supervisor. The successful candidate will fulfill Front of House duties in Edgar & Joe’s Café for a portion of their schedule. Further responsibilities in this role include the following: 

 
  • Act as the on-site contact for functions and events, organizing the process from the initial contact phase through post-event activities
  • Coordinate setup and take-down of rooms, delegating to/informing the proper staff members as needed and ensuring proper and timely supplies, equipment, and service to guarantee client satisfaction
  • Keep lines of communication open with all parties (both internal and external) involved in every event
  • Responsible for quality, presentation and service levels as regards catering obligations. Must be willing and able to step in and support the team as necessary
  • Handle client concerns and complaints in a prompt and efficient manner, deferring to Management as necessary
  • Coordinate special occasion permits and maintain bar control and inventory for same
 
Abilities and Requirements:

 
  • Knowledge and respect for hygiene and safety standards
  • Experience in Event Planning/Management, especially in a Catering or Food & Beverage delivery capacity
  • Formal credentials an asset but not required
  • Exceptional organizational skills. Able to make decisions independently and respond to inquiries professionally and in a timely manner
  • Motivated and capable of working productively both alone and on a team
  • Highly flexible schedule
  • Frequent standing, bending, twisting, kneeling, reaching forwards and overhead, sitting, gripping, carrying, pushing and pulling
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 kg.
