Job Description

Located in Southwestern Ontario, 20 kilometers south of London, Elgin St. Thomas Public Health (ESTPH) is dedicated to building a healthy community by promoting and supporting the health of the people who live, work, and play in Elgin County through the delivery of effective public health programs and services. 
 
Through health promotion and prevention disease management programs, Elgin St. Thomas Public Health delivers services to both an urban and a rural region with a population of over 89,000. 
 
As the Manager of Finance for Elgin St. Thomas Public Health, this exciting position is a key role in developing financial strategies, policies, new systems and practices.  As a senior manager, this position is heavily engaged in, the discussion and planning around strategic directions with the senior leadership team.  
 
Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will be accountable for providing leadership, influence and administration of the health unit’s multiple funding envelopes in excess of $8 million dollars.
 
Essential Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of a Bachelors degree in a finance related field of study,
  • Successful achievement of a Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation in good standing,
  • Sound knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and knowledge of public health financial management,
  • Three (3) successful years of senior management experience operating in a financial leadership role as well as supervising finance and administrative staff, preferably in a multi-union and multi-funder environment,
  • Exceptional analytical and communication skills are complemented by your experience in compensation, benefits, and pension administration (OMERS), and developing funding proposals,
  • Exceptional attention to detail ensuring accurate forecasting and submission of reports,
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving along with exceptional facilitation and coaching skills,
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a wide range of professionals, and
  • Ability to promote the values of shared leadership and team collaboration.
