mindyourmind is an award winning and internationally recognized mental health engagement program, working towards better mental health outcomes for youth and young adults between the ages of 14-29. mindyourmind works in partnership with young adults and the professionals who serve them, to co-develop innovative tools and resources to impact systems change and build capacity and resilience.

Through the use of active engagement, best practice and technology, mindyourmind inspires youth to reach out, get help and give help.

Description:

The successful candidate will be a passionate and dynamic advocate for youth, and for mental health and addictions, who enjoys working with like minded individuals. They will possess excellent interpersonal skills, able to be flexible and adapt to working within a small team and fast paced environment.

mindyourmind is seeking a passionate and capable Curriculum Developer to join our multidisciplinary team. This role would benefit from someone who understands the intersectionality of mental health, technology, educational practice and meaningful youth engagement and can articulate that through program planning and content development.

 

Principal responsibilities:

  • Work with youth, community partners, and the mindyourmind team to develop multi-media learning resources for educators, youth workers, school boards and parents that can be used to promote and educate young people about mental health issues
  • Work closely with mindyourmind team members to support content creation for mindyourmind’s various projects and web platforms
  • Able to maintain and build relationships in the community with like minded partners
  • Knowledge transition aimed at communicating research content towards a youth audience.
  • Work collaboratively in an open office environment with staff team but with the ability to be self sufficient and autonomous when necessary
  • Capacity to strategically work on multiple projects at once and prioritize goals.
  • Advocate and promote awareness of mindyourmind’s mission and goals.
  • Some evening/weekend work and travel may be required.


Experience and Education Preferred:

  • A Bachelor of Education or Social Sciences  or Health Sciences discipline.  
  • 3+ years of work experience in mental health, education or related field
  • Ability to work closely with youth and be a dynamic and capable facilitator
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience with complex program planning.
  • Experience working in a Youth Social Service organization, working collaboratively with external partners
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the issues affecting people with mental illness and addictions and a strong commitment to the betterment of youth mental health
  • Proficiency in standard computer programs including G Suite and Articulate eLearning Software
 

Bonus Points for:

  • Experience with nonprofits, and/or the mental health sector
  • Experience teaching in a high school/post secondary setting
  • Experience with public speaking and working in a design thinking format
  • Video editing or game development know-how
  • A passion for learning new things, being innovative, and taking risks
  • An appreciation for creativity and the environment where it thrives
 

This is a full time position - 35 hrs/week and two year contract.
