Quality Engineer Supervisor
 
We currently have an opportunity available for an experienced Quality Engineer Supervisor. Canada Tubeform is a London, Ontario Automotive Tier 2/3 manufacturing facility. The company is a progressive, growing Canadian based manufacturing business focused on the production of high-volume tubular steel and aluminum components and assemblies for the automotive industry.  The company has been in business since 2001 as a privately-owned company. Company size is approximately 60 people that think big in all we do.

This is a new position for a growing company and will report to the Quality Manager as a day shift position.  Some flexibility of work hours and some travel will be required.

Job Description:
The Quality Engineer Supervisor is responsible for quality assurance and supervising activities involving the inspecting and testing of materials and parts associated with the business operation.  The role will involve substantial Supplier QA responsibilities while ensuring compliance to IATF standards. The role requires approximately 40% shop floor time.

Requirements:
  • Leadership for Quality team members and ensure that quality functions are executed successfully.
  • Supplier performance monitoring through an evaluation, qualification and approval process.
  • Knowledge of core tools and APQP.
  • Supplier Audit Program including on-site supplier audits as per IATF16949.
  • Supports Corrective and Preventive Action teams through root cause investigations to implementation and final verification.
  • Ensure that documented practices meet the true interpretation of the quality management system standards.
  • Make decisions based on research, analysis and thorough evaluation of data.
  • Audit processes and documentation to verify compliance to company and IATF16949 standards.
  • Lead investigation of, and address quality challenges.
  • Support new technology programs and deployment for quality.
  • Guide organization personnel through new practices and certifications.
  • Regularly communicate activities and results within the organization as appropriate.
  • Management of supplier corrective action activities and feedback of supplier quality performance data.
  • Willingness to learn from others and to transfer knowledge and training to others.
  • Exceptional problem solver, critical thinker to seek out viable alternatives balancing production needs and costs.
  • Excellent time manager with a sense of urgency
  • Proven understanding of prioritization and awareness of production requirements
  • Promoting positive working relationships to align with excellent culture and work environment.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, ERP Systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with other departments and all levels on the organization.
  • High energy and a well-developed sense of urgency are essential requirements of the position.
  • Provide back-up customer support assistance to the Quality Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
  • Degree or Diploma in a manufacturing related science supplemented by credentials in quality assurance or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • IATF work experience and/or certifications preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferably in a quality assurance related role.
  • Leadership experience and/or leadership education an asset.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer literacy and a familiarity with quality assurance systems are essential elements of the position.
  • Experience with FARO or Polyworks an asset.
