JOB SUMMARY:
Provide generalist support in all areas of human resources and Health and Safety to achieve plant goals and promote a positive work environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Attach additional sheets if needed):
Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Recruitment and selection of hourly team members (including reviewing applications, conducting interviews, checking references, selecting qualified candidates and extending offers).
- Conduct new team member orientation
- General administrative support to the HR/H&S department
- Provide assistance to team members, team leaders and group leaders in solving work-related problems.
- Coordinating company social events (i.e. BBQs, Pizza Days, Holiday Parties), as required.
- Assist team members with questions concerning the benefit program.
- Assist the department on special projects as needed.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree or Diploma in Human Resources or Health and Safety and/or demonstrated equivalent of education and experience
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Strong attention to detail and proof reading skills
- In depth knowledge of H&S/HR best practices; well versed in Canadian employment/H&S legislation
- Above average proficiency in MS Office and HRIS software
- CRSP or CHRP designation (or actively in pursuit of) preferred
- ISO 14001 knowledge and previous experience in certification and maintaining certification preferred
- Experience in WSIB claims management and coordinating an ESRTW program
- Must possess strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills; have the ability to build effective relationships with all levels of management and employees within the company.
- Ability to treat all matters with strict confidentiality and always present a strong customer orientation
