POSITION SUMMARY:   
The Human Resources Coordinator – Plant is responsible to carry out a wide variety of duties for the Human Resources Department and Team with a focus on Formet Policy application and Team Member relations with respect to quality of work life.


RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have completed Post Secondary Certificate in Human Resources Management.
  • Minimum two years of work experience as an HR Generalist.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all duties and promote themselves in a manner that reflects Formet Expectations, Formet’s Visions/Values through Magna’s Employee Charter.
  • Follow and abide by all government, Legal, Magna and Formet rules and regulations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
  • Maintain and manage Employee Relations plant wide and individually.
  • Coach all Team Members on Formet’s Expectations, Formet’s Visions/Values and Magna’s Employee Charter.
  • Ensure all Human Resources procedures/standards/legislation, including the Employment Standards Act are being followed and applied correctly.
  • Lead all aspects of the recruitment and selection process for any open positions from creation of hiring requisition to offer of employment.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency in achieving results and solving problems.
  • Demonstrate a maturity in judgment, good leadership skills, attention to detail and exceptional organizational, listening, communication and presentation skills in all aspects of the job function.
  • Able to perform all duties of a Human Resource Coordinator with only limited supervision or direction.
  • Ensure the timely updating of EOS Action Plans, Departmental Goals, Key Performance Indicators and provide reports as required or requested.
  • Preparation of legal and Hotline packages in a timely manner.
  • Preparation of discipline packages.
  • Carry out analysis regarding quality of work life, Team Member relations matters and provide sound, accurate and appropriate advice for consistency in policy application; foresight regarding consequences, focus on division values/visions and compliance with legislative / corporate guidelines.
  • Responsible for successful planning, implementation and effective project management of a number of service areas but not limited to:
    • Communication and Information Systems (HR Coordinator Guidelines, Team Member Handbook, Implementation of HRIS)
    • Magna Charter requirements (Competitive Wages and Benefits Survey, Employee Opinion Survey and Action Plan, etc.)
  • Initiate Office Coordinator support, as required, to meet departmental needs within assigned areas (ie. job posting, contract amendments, corrective discipline etc.).
  • Maintain high shop floor visibility; daily presence and personal contact with Team Members within designated area/s.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of positive Labour Relations strategies.
  • Develop and carry out coaching and training strategies to ensure Open Door communications are maintained within assigned areas (develop Vision/Value and other talks to reinforce training / operating philosophies).
  • Ensure a positive Human Resources presence by listening, responding to, directing for response, following up within 5 days, reporting as required or appropriate, all Team Member issues / concerns or any other matters that may have the potential to negatively impact Team Member relations, services provided by Human Resources or the general well being of the Company.
  • Promote good Human Resources / Leadership relations by initiating/providing positive reinforcement (for jobs well done), support wherever possible and honest feedback in all dealings.
  • Attend meetings including Team Member meetings, department meetings, white board meetings, Leadership meetings, department Fairness Committee Meetings etc. to ensure high visibility and maintain ongoing understanding of issues.
  • Ensure investigations are initiated, carried out thoroughly, documented and followed up with appropriate communication/documentation as required.
  • Act as backup to other Plant HR Coordinators and Area Leader – HR Coordinators (Plant) during periods of absence.
  • Gather information and assist in making changes to the Handbook as required.
  • Ensure the Leadership Guidelines are kept up to date and current as required.
  • Facilitate secret ballot votes and surveys in accordance with policy/procedure.
  • Provide Team Members with feedback on Job Postings in a professional courteous manner.
  • Provide leadership, focus, direction to action group or other continuous improvement groups brought forward through Magna Employee Opinion Surveys or other means.
  • Act as a liaison between Formet and any satellite locations where Formet Team Members may be located to ensure all information is communicated to the appropriate people.
  • Participate in the delivery of new hire Orientation and assist in keeping information current and up to date as required.
  • Conduct presentations in communication meetings and orientations on HR related topics.
  • Perform other duties as designated.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Office and Manufacturing Environments
  • Able to work shift work.
  • Able to be flexible in hours of work in order to meet internal/external customer requirements (scheduled and non-scheduled overtime shifts, etc.)

  • Responsible to adhere to all Health and Safety programs in accordance with the O.H.S.A. 
  • Follow and ensure the company’s procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed throughout the plant.
  • Ensure that you work and operate equipment according to Formet’s safety rules and regulations.
  • Active role in maintaining excellent housekeeping through leading by example.
  • Ensure that your department is clean, tidy, organized and a safe workplace at all times.
  • As with Safety, Security is everyone’s responsibility and Formet requires its employees to contribute to this activity by immediately notifying your supervisor when you identify security issues that affect the integrity of our supply chain, in accordance with PIP (Partners in Protection) and C-TPAT (Customs – Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) requirements.
