StarTech.com is currently looking for a Summer Student Video Production Assistant to join our Product  Information Creation team from May to September at our Corporate Office in London, Ontario.

Reporting to the Visual Product Information Lead, our Summer Student Video Production Assistant will assist our full time Video Production Specialist with everyday tasks as well as varying ad hoc projects. At StarTech.com, we create compelling and informative videos about our products that can include installation and troubleshooting for customers. In addition, we create corporate messages that will be used on our own website, and also on the websites of our resellers across global markets.

This is a great opportunity for students looking to grow their portfolio with meaningful, hands-on work alongside like-minded individuals on a creative team within a busy corporate environment.

No need to bring your own equipment, we have a full studio setup onsite using DSLR cameras, 3-point lighting, tripods and audio equipment.

This is a full time role from May to September, 2018.

In this role you will:

  • Showcase and polish your shooting and editing skills using the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically After Effects and Premiere Pro
  • Acting as a second shooter, you will assist with setup and filming of onsite video shoots that can be learning workshops, interviews and  in-studio product videos
  • Provide input to develop best-in-class video production standards and processes by participating in brainstorming and storyboarding – we want your opinion!
  • Assist with closed captioning existing videos

What you can show us:

  • You are currently enrolled in a Post-Secondary program for Advanced Film Making, Visual Effects and Editing, or something similar
  • Knowledge of interview setup, proper lighting technique, cameras and grip gear is preferred
  • An up-to-date portfolio highlighting your work must be included with your application for review
  • Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite products, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, and bonus points for Cinema 4D
  • Beginner knowledge of After Effects is a nice to have, intermediate working knowledge of Premiere Pro is required
  • Familiarity and comfort with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work collaboratively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment with sometimes shifting priorities and deadlines
