At this time, we are seeking an IT Support Specialist for London, ON locations. This is a permanent, full-time position within a continuous operation. The hours of work can include evenings, holidays and weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

The IT Support Specialist is mainly responsible for providing IT support for the BGE staff residing in the London, Ontario facilities.  Duties include, but not limited to, providing desktop support, telephone support, network support, troubleshooting, and customer service to BGE call center agents and management. Also responsible for managing servers, email, and desktop issues, while providing hardware and software maintenance, and coordinating and working with vendors to troubleshoot customer, voice and network issues.  Reporting to the Niles, IL BGE Information Technology Infrastructure Team, this is a key IT role, providing technology support, working and closing open service tickets, and working on small-medium projects as defined and prioritized via the Niles, IL based Information Technology Infrastructure Team. It is a job expectation that the IT Support Specialist will proactively look at the computer operational activity and provide recommendations for improvement.
 
 

Required Qualifications

Education, Licensing, Certification, and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline or qualifying work experience with applicable combination of education/training, & skills.
  • 2 years of Information Technology work experience including Level 1 Service Desk and Level 2 Desktop Support responsible for hardware/software support and maintenance in LAN/WAN and multi-platform environment.
  • 1-3 years of Desktop Support

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server
  • Cisco Call Center Implementation, Administration, and proven results; Cisco UCCE
  • Knowledge File Servers, Microsoft Office Productivity Tools, TCP/IP in a multi-geography desktop support model are required. IBM, UNIX (AIX and Solaris), Linux, Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Project Planning are all pluses.
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to work well in a team oriented environment.
     
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline
     
    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
     
  • 1-3 years of Information Technology work experience in Telecommunications, ideally supporting a Cisco environment, and experience with Verint WFO (Call Recording/Work Force Management), however, commensurate experience will be considered.
  • 1-3 years of Desktop Support experience in a Call Centre environment.
