We are currently recruiting for a Safety Advisor. This is an in-person role, you must be willing to work in Sarnia Lambton. 

 

Duties include: 

 

  • Develop coaching relationships with the project leadership team focused on helping them define and achieve their safety culture and continuously improve their safety performance.  

  • Lead by demonstrating the required behaviours, attitudes and mindset to further develop an already strong safety culture. 

  • Facilitate and participate in developing and implementing project/department Health and Safety plans, goals and objectives. 

  • Participate in the development of Health and Safety performance measures, understand the relative value, interpret results 

  • Provide preparation assistance and feedback for leaders of safety meetings with employees. 

  • Provide training, orientation and personal coaching to site staff. 

  • Coordinate and participate in the analysis, design, development, delivery and evaluation of safety-related training, as required. 

  • Provide support to project/department management and staff in interpreting and applying rules, regulations and legislation. 

  • Facilitate the implementation and administration of Health and Safety policies, processes and systems and monitor compliance with all relevant legislation, rules and regulations. 

  • Provide consultation and assist in risk identification assessment, hazard analysis and job planning.  

  • Develop job aids and methods to assist site personnel in these tasks. 

  • Review, and provide coaching and support as required in incident investigation. 

  • Support as required for the return-to-work program as identified by the Health and Safety Manager. 

  • Monitor site conditions and behaviours to identify risks and provide site leaders with input and recommendations to enhance safety performance. 

  • Conduct safety audits, coordinate audit recommendations, and assist in the development of corrective action plans in consultation with project/department management. 

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • Certificate, diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety. 

  • Accreditation as an OH&S professional (i.e., CRSP) 

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience. 

  • Working knowledge of OH&S policies, standards, legislation and procedures pertaining to the industry. 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including oral, verbal, and written communication skills. 

  • Ability to take initiative, and lead and motivate people. 

  • Ability to cooperate and deal tactfully with others. 

  • Must have knowledge of MS Office. 

  • Have general knowledge and the ability to learn and use additional job-specific application software, Industrial hygiene or atmospheric monitoring equipment as required.
