Reporting to the Employment Team Leader, the Career Services System Navigator will be responsible for welcoming visitors to YOU and helping to guide participants to resources within and outside of YOU. Other duties will be assigned as necessary. Qualified candidates possess exceptional communication and leadership skills, work well in a fast paced and dynamic environment, and hold values that support our corporate vision of being “A community where youth are embraced and will thrive”.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintains a welcoming reception area for participants as they arrive at YOU.
  • Reminds participants about opportunities to participate in programming and ensures clients have access to supports required for attendance
  • Supports service delivery team with participant follow up
  • Maintains strong participant confidentiality practices and professional boundaries
  • In collaboration with the service delivery team, assists with referral of participants to appropriate mental health, social, education, employment, medical and other resources and completes follow-up on referrals
  • Clearly communicates and provide information on Career Services operations and processes
  • Assists with the creation and distribution of outreach materials in the community
  • Represents YOU in a professional fashion and maintains positive working relations with co-workers, the community and other service providers.
  • Ensures documentation is complete, including files, case notes and reports using the agency’s electronic records system
  • Maintains accurate statistics and drafts reports as required.

Qualifications:
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to create a welcoming environment for youth accessing services at YOU
  • University Degree or 2-year College Diploma in human /social services from an accredited institution
  • Enthusiasm for supporting youth accessing social services and supports
  • Strong case documentation, statistical reporting, file management and organizational skills
  • Ability to build interpersonal and supportive relationships with youth participants
  • Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Strong spoken and written communication skills
  • Ability to respond effectively in difficult situations.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office 365 including Word, Outlook, Excel and SharePoint as well as other on-line software programs are required
