Responsibilities

As a Specialist, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Proactively support multiple work streams or project teams to execute against an existing project or work plan
  • Promote, manage and deliver the continuous improvement of activities and service delivery
  • Display effective organization skills, managing multiple and competing priorities and coaching others to improve these skills
  • Propose solutions to manage client expectations and managing the delivery of the solution
  • Display attention to detail in executing and reviewing work products to ensure the highest quality deliverables in the allotted timeframe
  • Integrate and synthesize information from multiple sources in order to analyze complex data and results, anticipate issues and solve problems

 

The Opportunity: Assurance Specialist

 

Reporting to one of the Senior Assurance Specialists of the Assurance Service Delivery Centre, this position is responsible for supporting engagement teams with testing in support of financial statement audits and testing business and IT controls. Financial statement audit support includes testing financial data by reference to supporting evidence and related documentation. IT controls will primarily relate to program changes, logical access, computer operations and program development. 

 

In the role as an Assurance Specialist, you will primarily:

  • Conduct audit testing on specific areas of the audit file
  • Conduct testing and document control test results including examining process/control and financial evidence, and document test evaluation results
  • Prepare related deliverables in accordance with the Delivery Centre User Guide 
  • Participate in training and other developmental opportunities and proactively learn new processes
  • Clearly communicate efficiently and professionally to our clients and internal teams through email, phone, and instant messaging

 

Requirements:

  • College Diploma or Business Certificate; Finance or Accounting an asset
  • Bilingual in French and English is considered an asset
  • Eligibility for federal government clearance is considered an asset
  • 1-3 years of work experience with financial data, accounting or auditing experience
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills including English, ability to communicate and manage expectations with clients
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products (i.e., Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio, etc.) including an understanding of v-lookup, text, reference and logical information functionality in Excel
  • Committed to providing high quality work and maintaining timelines
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and a desire to take responsibility for personal growth and development
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure without compromising professional standards or quality of work
  • Ability to work on multiple engagements concurrently
  • Attention to detail with the ability to participate, communicate and apply knowledge to deliver quality results
  • A team player and ability to build relationships
  • Time management skills

 

This role does not support the completion of the CPA designation.
