The Department of Housing is committed to providing a first-class residence experience for over 5,300 Western students while supporting the academic mission of the University and ensuring profitability and cost effectiveness of the Housing operation.  We provide thriving residence communities which engage our diverse student population.

Residence Admissions is responsible for coordinating the accommodations of approximately 5300 students in Western's residences in order to maximize occupancy rates and revenues.  The Housing Accounts Coordinator is responsible for ensuring accurate accounting processes are in place for charging, collecting and tracking individual students living in Western's housing system not only the residences but also tracking rental payments of tenants within the University-owned apartments.  Reporting to the Assistant Director, Housing Administration, the Housing Accounts Coordinator administers the financial functions within Residence Admissions.

Education:
-   Undergraduate degree with accounting courses

Experience:
-   Five years of business experience with proven expertise in accounting principles
-   Demonstrated financial management experience and expertise in preparing budgets, reconciliations
-   Familiarity with the University's systems (including PeopleSoft), general operating and accounting procedures, and purchasing, accounts payable and petty cash functions preferred

Skills & Expertise:
-   Demonstrated project management skills balancing multiple priorities
-   Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
-   Proven leadership and supervisory skills
-   Proven ability to take initiative and champion a project from conception through implementation and evaluation
-   Effective interpersonal skills for liaising with prospective students, current students and other members of the Western community
-   Creative problem-solving skills and sound professional judgment, especially regarding confidential/sensitive matters
-   Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office and data base management
-   Ability to work in a dynamic organization that values change, innovation and improvement
-   Self-motivated multi-tasker with strong organizational skills
-   Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours (i.e. evening and weekend)
-   Demonstrated analytical ability with a working knowledge of accounting principles
-   Ability to analyze and synthesize sizable amounts of detail/data
