Responsibilities

As a Security Systems Technician, you will be installing and servicing various commercial electronic security systems, including (but not limited to): Security Cameras, Access Control & Phone Entry, Burglar Alarms, Gate Automation, and various door technologies. First and foremost, you will provide a world-class customer experience for our customers - Hudson’s highest priority.

The Security Systems Technician role is based out of our London, Ontario office and will have the following key responsibilities:
 
  • Equipment installation, which could include digging, lifting, and fastening electronic security components
  • Pulling communication and control wiring from equipment to termination points
  • Initial setup and configuration of electronic equipment
  • Working with senior technicians to automate and install large pieces of equipment such as sliding gates, loading docks, and overhead doors
  • Testing various electronic components to ensure proper functionality
  • Troubleshooting issues with various pieces of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Communicating with clients regarding their current equipment and when necessary, providing options for replacement
  • Completing reports for each job performed throughout the day

Qualifications & Requirements
 
  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate
  • Valid G license and clean driver’s abstract
  • Physically fit with the ability to lift and carry loads of 50 lbs
  • Ability to work overtime and be on-call
  • Strong technical, mechanical, and/or electrical background, preferably with one or more of the services offered by Hudson
  • Experience working with power tools and hand tools
  • Willingness to learn and improve your skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team
  • Positive attitude, professional manner, and sound customer service skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate with clients and co-workers
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work at heights is a must as a large part of our work is from ladders and elevated work platforms

Nice to Have:
 
  • Previous electrical or mechanical experience specific to that of a security technician
  • Experience using various types of metalworking equipment
  • A valid Ministry of Labour “Working at Heights” certificate
  • A valid scissor lift or elevated work platform certificate
  • A valid forklift certificate
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Security systems technician training

Compensation

$21.00-$28.00 per hour (based on experience)
Participation in company quarterly bonus program
Overtime and on-call supplemental pay

Schedule
 
  • 40-hour work week with on-call rotation for weekends/evenings/holidays (when required)
  • Reliable transportation required (location not on a bus route)
