The Controller is responsible for all daily accounting activities, all aspects of maintaining the accounting for mortgage, and shareholders. You will be reporting to the President.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for accounts payable/receivable, general ledger
• Prepare and complete bank deposits and complete monthly bank reconciliation
• Liaison with lawyers and brokers for funding and discharging of mortgages on a timely basis
• Intermediary for processing shareholder requests and dividends
• Preparation of the corporation management budget and interim financial statements
• Prepare financial reports and tracks cashflow
• Provide guidance on financial matters and procedures
• Develop and recommend improvements to accounting processes and reporting
• Assist in preparation of the year-end audit
• Prepare other reports as required
• Special projects, as required

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in a business or accounting program or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum five to seven years accounting experience involving all aspects of accounting knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word and Outlook. Advanced level of knowledge in Microsoft Excel with experience using Excel as a database and data analysis tool
• Proficient in the use of the financial system, Simply Accounting
• Good judgment with ability to make independent decisions while also recognizing when consultation is required with others in the company
• Ability to work independently
