MCI Design-Build Corporation is a Design-Build General Contractor located in London, Ontario, constructing projects ranging from $100 thousand to $20+ million in all sectors including Commercial, Industrial, Institutional and Custom Residential. We are seeking an accomplished Project Manager, responsible for successful project deployment from contract award to close-out. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional abilities in the following key areas:

Management –

  • Ensure effective and efficient planning, scheduling and coordinating of multiple concurrent construction projects
  • Administer skillful contract negotiation resulting in minimal changes to construction costs and directives
  • Maintain effective contingency plans for potential problems concerning labour, material, equipment, inspections, etc.
  • Review and approve construction operation plans
  • Assist with conceptual estimating, budgeting and pricing as required
  • Expeditious ability to make calculated decisions in the best interest of the client, and company

Administration –

  • Prepare, provide, review and execute schedules, CCDC contracts, estimates, purchase orders, change orders, chair and publish meeting minutes for project trade and owner site meetings, construction forecasts and all related contract updates and modifications
  • Develop detailed Scope of Work for all related construction administration
  • Prepare timely close-out documents including completion of final inspection and client document submission
  • Administer contracts in accordance with policies and procedures for the maximum benefit of the client and the company
  • Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to project status
  • Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts and obtain permits and licenses

Examination –

  • Identify and assess project needs, risks and resources evaluating the availability and potential cost and schedule impacts
  • Perform cost comparison analysis of subcontractors vs. self-performed work to maintain cost controls
  • Review material/subcontractor/consultant invoices for approval
  • Review and analyze blueprints and specifications to determine project requirements
  • Conduct quality control inspections all throughout construction phases
  • Advise management of developments that may affect project profit, costs, schedules, and client relations
  • Provide recommendations to reorganize workflow, reduce costs and improve overall project efficiency

Leadership –

  • Build and nurture relationships to ensure client needs are met and issues/conflicts are resolved
  • Develop contractor relationships and effectively involve team players to instill a unified results oriented approach
  • Motivate field staff and build cooperative teams to encourage innovative problem solving and partnerships of mutual respect
  • Participate in business development activities and promote productive and lasting client relationships

Coordination –

  • Maintain extensive knowledge of building codes, specifications, regulations and practices to effectively coordinate with design professionals, field staff, inspectors, and clients
  • Organize and lead all project meetings
  • Coordinate design and planning to ensure standards are met and continuity between all team members is upheld
  • Consistently prioritize tasks in order to ensure successful delivery of quality projects on time and within budget
  • Prepare and maintain construction schedules working with field operations and suppliers to ensure timely completion of projects
  • Conduct site visits during various stages of the construction project to ensure quality control

Professional Experience and Qualifications:

  • 5 - 10 years related work experience in Construction Project Management, Design-Build Experience an asset and preferred
  • Post-secondary education in a related field
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction including building codes, contract terms and conditions, subcontract terms and conditions, equipment methods, materials, engineering, cost control, and scheduling
  • Must possess superior communication, organization and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in MS Project, job-costing software and Microsoft Office, knowledge of CAD an asset
  • Ability to embrace challenges and achieve accountable results
