Accounting Assistant
As an Accounting Assistant on our Internal Finance Team, you will be responsible for supporting several key financial and accounting processes in a multiple-entity environment.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Accounts Payable- Prepare weekly payment runs and emergency one-offs
- Process vendor invoices and employee expense claims
- Act as the first line of contact with vendors
- Reconcile credit card activity
- Verify account codes for proper GL allocation and signature evidence for proper expense authorization
- Maintain schedules and prepare month end entries for various expenditures
- Prepare HST returns
- Ensure accurate processing of monthly remittances
Accounts Receivable
- Reconcile accounts receivable balances and activity between operational and accounting systems
- Field client phone calls pertaining to payments and inquiries regarding their account
- Process client payments
- Ad hoc requests from team members, clients and other departments
Month End Processing
- Produce monthly accounting reports
Other
- Ad hoc projects and tasks
- Administrative duties as required
- Assist in audit inquiries
Education, Qualifications and Experience
- Post-secondary Diploma in Business Administration, Accounting or other related field
- Experience in A/P, A/R and general bookkeeping considered an asset
- Excellent interpersonal skills – capable of communicating in professional and courteous manner with team members, clients and vendors
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficient in MS Office;
- Advanced Excel skills, experience in Sage 300 and experience in HST are considered assets but not requirements
