Humana Community Services is a registered charity, accredited by the Canadian Centre for Accreditation. Through a recent unification process, Anago (Non) Residential Resources Inc. and WAYS Mental Health Support have come together to combine over 100 years of history delivering high-quality services and support for children, youth and adults with specialized needs, and their families/caregivers. Collectively, we are known for providing crisis support; personalized mental health services; supports for community participation and transition to independent living, and safe, therapeutic, educational environments where at-risk children, youth, and vulnerable adults are able to connect, grow and thrive.

Humana Community Services', LOFT program, is currently seeking applicants to join our direct support team as a Relief Direct Care Worker. As a program designed to encourage and promote independence, we want our LOFT program participants to be confident in their development and future success. Successful applicants will be responsible for working with a diverse group of people, providing support and daily programming for our shared home environment. The successful applicant will provide support in life skill enhancement, while maintaining individualized support plans, recreational activities and being a positive role model. This is a 24/7 support site and includes evenings, weekends, overnights, and public holidays.

Qualifications:
  • Completion of related post-secondary education (Social Work, DSW, SSW, CYC, or equivalent)
  • Minimum two (2) years related experience preferred
  • Strong mentorship abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries
  • Understanding of support requirements specific to individuals with mental health and intellectual disabilities
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution and behaviour management
  • Sound knowledge of problem-solving skills to develop creative, evolving plans for the participants
  • Physical ability to fulfil the demands of the position
  • Ability to make independent decision based on Policies & Procedures
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset

Position details:
  • Starting wage: $20.84/hr plus vacation time off
  • Location: London, ON
  • Skills training available to meet mandatory training requirements
  • Shift work is required, including evenings, weekends, overnights and public holidays
  • 24/7 on-call support

Requirements:
  • Valid Ontario G Driver's License
  • Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Current immunizations and physical health assessment
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR level C
  • De-escalation and restraint certification; Crisis Management Training; SMG
