The Department of Western International's mission is to direct and support the University's international strategy, while acting as a resource to faculties and departments across the Western community. 

As a senior leader within Western International, the Administrative Officer works with the Vice-Provost to develop strategies and actions that will enable Western to achieve its international goals. The incumbent will be accountable for developing, organizing and implementing the necessary practices to achieve these goals.  This will include matters related to overall administration, finance and HR within the unit.

Qualifications 
Education:
-   University degree in business management, finance or HR
-   Continuing education courses in HR, Financial management, Leadership, etc. preferred
 
Experience:
-   5 years of professional experience with an administrative/business operations role
-   Experience with financial applications (i.e. Peoplesoft) and budgeting experience is essential
-   Experience coordinating and implementing multi-faceted projects
-   Experience at a university and with international education would be an asset

Skills & Expertise:
-   Strong knowledge of Western's strategic plans, goals, leadership philosophy, planning and budgeting system, funding structure, policies and procedures
-   Solid understanding of key financial principles
-   Demonstrated analytical ability with a working knowledge of accounting principles including cost-control, accounts receivable and payable, auditing policies, standards, procedures and reports
-   Knowledge of HR legislation, practices, standards, policies, procedures
-   Preference for familiarity with operations in the Vice-Provost Academic and Registrar portfolio
-   Ability to work strategically, tactically, and operationally
-   Demonstration of strong fiscal management, collaborative leadership and team building skills
-   A well defined sense of diplomacy, including conflict resolution and people management skills
-   Demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills to enable team members to achieve high-quality outcomes
-   Excellent verbal and written communication skills and confidence dealing with all levels of an organization
-   Advanced computer skills including spreadsheet design, work processing and database management
-   Judgment, analytical and problem solving skills with a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and opportunities
-   Demonstrated ability to apply creativity, innovation and resourcefulness to daily work
-   Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with little supervision, meet tight deadlines and adapt to growth and change
-   Demonstrated commitment to higher education, internationalization, ongoing learning and professional development
