Job Description

Reporting to the General Manager at our Dorchester Terrace Retirement Residence, this full time position is responsible for the co-ordination of all maintenance and housekeeping staff, services, and activities.

Responsibilities Include:

• Supervise activities and co-ordinate work routines of housekeeping and maintenance team members to meet the requirements of the Residence and to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
• Hands on repairs to be completed as necessary.
• Ensure compliance to all internal and external policies and regulations relating to the building operations, including maintenance programs, completing fire drills and the co-ordination of other safety training requirements, records and activities
• Co-ordinate all required materials, supplies, equipment and contractors for environmental services
• Maintain approved operational budgets
• Participate in quality assurance and risk management programs
• Deliver education and in-service training to all team members. Provide leadership, development and support to the environmental team.
• Represent Management on the facility Joint Health and Safety Committee

Experience & Qualifications:

• Three to five years related supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated effective leadership, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Strong team member philosophy and ability to work independently in a fast paced work environment. 
• Self-directed and team-oriented, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Strong customer service focus and ability to get along with seniors and people with disabilities. 
• Knowledge and hands-on experience with HVAC systems, preventative maintenance programs, delivery of safety training, budgeting, scheduling and supplies management
• Working knowledge of safe work practices including but not limited to Occupational Health & Safety Act, WHIMIS, WSIB, sub-contractors and contracted services. Must be able to promote safe work environments through education and training as well as by policy and practice design. 
• Must be available for on-call as required.
