Job Description

Position: Quality Manager
 
Essential Functions:
 
  • Plan, organize, direct and evaluate the activities of the Quality department in respect to integrating quality into the daily manufacturing activities to drive improvements in quality, cost and delivery performance.
  • Develop, implement, communicate and maintain a quality plan to bring the Company’s Quality Systems and Policies into compliance with quality system requirements.
  • Effectively interact with Production / Purchasing / Engineering teams to address any quality issues.
  • Ensuring compliance with national and international standards and legislation specifically ISO 9001-2008/2015, CWB, AWS, and DIN to maintain certifications.
  • Defining quality procedures and establishing clearly defined quality methods for staff to apply.
  • Setting up and maintaining controls and documentation procedures.
  • Liaising with customers’ auditors and ensuring the execution of corrective action and compliance with customers’ specifications.
  • Ensure all customer specifications and requirements are documented and communicated and executed throughout the organization
  • Organize, supervise and manage quality assurance function and oversee quality lab in two locations, directing CMM/QA Technicians, Inspectors and Supervisors to support business goals.
  • Identifying relevant quality-related training needs for production staff (CNC Operators, Welders, General Labourers etc.)
  • Manage and maintain the Company’s quality inspection and product release programs for incoming and in-process materials and components, processes and finished goods.
  • Setting QA compliance objectives and ensuring that targets are achieved through audit inspections.
  • Promoting quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization.
  • Management and Administration – hiring, approving vacation requests, ensuring staff follow Environmental and Health and Safety policies and procedures.
 
Qualifications: 
  • Diploma or Degree in Quality Assurance Management or Manufacturing Technology (or equivalent).
  • Minimum five years of direct work experience with QA systems, regulations, guidelines, and associated standards in the Quality Management field.
  • Minimum 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Previous experience in a job/fabrication shop environment with Welding and Machining.
  • Strong knowledge of quality standards, i.e. ISO standards.
  • Strong follow up, organization and prioritization skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
