Job Description

Be part of a dynamic, not-for-profit organization committed to providing a diverse array of services to individuals with complex needs within three distinct service areas; adolescent females who are deemed “in need of protection”, youth who are in trouble with the law and at risk in the community and individuals with developmental and/or physical challenges.
 
Anago-Parkhill Therapeutic Care Residence (APR) is an 11 bed residence providing residential supports to at risk female adolescents in Southwestern Ontario between the ages of 12-17.  Youth are supported by empowering, building trust, social inclusion, advocacy, respect, counseling and teaching to create resilient, sustainable, healthy, responsible independent lifestyles and positive self-esteem. 
 
The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of youth work as it relates to a residential facility.  Shifts will include days, evenings, weekends and overnights. 
 
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated understanding of youth behaviour and the Youth Service System
  • Able to establish therapeutic relationships on the basis of respect and trust
  • Solid organizational, communication and problem solving skills; attention to detail
  • Willingness to promote our Corporate philosophy
  • Ability and willingness to lead youth through a process of self-evaluation and goal setting consistent with Cognitive Behaviour Theory and Lead Management
  • Ability to write clear, concise observations of youth behaviour
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; both written and oral
  • Ability to use sound judgment and make independent decisions based on Policies & Procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team
  • Proven computer skills, Microsoft Office preferred
  • A valid Ontario (G) Driver’s License, current Police Records Check & Vulnerable Position Screening, current Standard First Aid & CPR certificate, PMAB
  • Post Secondary education in a related field
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a youth residential setting
 
Work Location:             Anago-Parkhill Therapeutic Care Residence (APR) – Parkhill, ON
 
Starting Wage:              $16.57 per hour plus 4% vacation pay
