Under the direction of the Manager of Recreation and Facilities, promote the public’s enjoyment of municipal facilities, create events for the betterment of the community, support service clubs in the delivery of public events, and work with the Manager of Recreation and Facilities to bolster the programming and events offered to the community.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- For all internal training and events, organize any food or beverage needs.
- Any event using the municipal liquor license, ensure ordering of all alcohol is done prior to the event.
- Work with renters to ensure that all their facility needs are being met for their event.
- Assist in the planning and organizing of major community events.
- Assist the Economic Development and Communications Coordinator in promotion of events and programming within North Middlesex.
- Attend and monitor all events that are utilizing the Municipality’s Liquor License. During these events ensure that all liquor laws are being followed as well as the Municipal Alcohol Policy. These events generally fall on weekends.
- Manage, with the assistance of the Manager, the North Middlesex Arena Canteen. This includes the ordering of products, the scheduling of staff and the preparation of weekly deposits.
- Assist the Recreation Manager in regular assessment of programming within North Middlesex including the creation of Municipal Programming to supplement the existing programming if needed.
- Sit on committees which focus on internal and external events.
- Assist both the Economic Development Coordinator and Manager of Recreation in creating their annual budgets with respect to community events and promotion.
- Maintain regular contact with the Manager to resolve issues, respond to public complaints and concerns, and provide background information and related briefings on emerging issues with respect to events and programming.
- Recommend major purchases to the Manager with respect to programming, community events, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Human Resources:
- Coordinate the use of contractors and suppliers, under the direction of the Recreation Manager.
- Understand and ensure compliance of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- In coordination with the recreation manager, provide direction to municipal facilities staff with respect to event setup.
- Understand the Municipality’s Health & Safety policies and procedures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- College Diploma in Event Planning/Recreational Programming would be considered an asset.
- Smart Serve Certificate or willing to achieve prior to commencing employment.
- Safe Food Handling certification or willing to achieve prior to commencing employment.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in food and event planning.
- A proven track record of high-quality work accomplishments.

- Daily with renters as well as community groups and service clubs.
- With the Manager to review the status of events and results, and seek advice and direction, particularly regarding facilities.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Working within a community facility/hall and completing general office work.
- This position requires many weekend shifts. The incumbent is expected to work most events that utilize the Municipal Liquor License and any major community events.
