FACILITIES MANAGER- Full Time
The OpportunityFACILITIES MANAGER- Full Time
Reporting to the Director, Family & Volunteer Services, the Facilities Manager is responsible for the physical premises of the 2 Houses and the Family Room(s) – including the safe operation of all building systems, grounds, security, vehicles and technology infrastructure which support the work of the organization and safeguards the well-being of resident families, staff and volunteers. The portfolio includes overall responsibility for health and safety matters, property and building maintenance, system support, housekeeping and the efficient operation of the facility.
As a key member of the leadership team, the Facilities Manager works closely with the Director, Family & Volunteer Services, other department directors/managers and volunteer committees as appropriate. He/she contributes to the development and achievement of strategic priorities related to the portfolio, as well as budget development and monitoring. As an organizational leader, the Facilities Manager provides training, support and direction to department staff to achieve high performance.
The Organization
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southwestern Ontario provides a welcoming home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill or injured children receiving medical care. In 2016 the houses provided 14,083 nights of comfort to families from the region and beyond. The Chapter currently includes a 34 bedroom room residential house in London, a 7 bedroom residential House-within-a-Hospital in Windsor and a Family Room in London Health Sciences Centre. The Qualifications
We are looking for a leader with the following skills:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing a commercial or residential facility
- Technical expertise in building systems, security and life safety – post secondary education in Mechanical/Electrical sciences preferred
- Experience with redevelopment and /or construction projects
- Basic knowledge of energy management principles and sustainability (LEED®)
- Demonstrated customer service skills and willingness to provide high quality service to families in crisis
- Proven leadership and management skills
- Insight into technology and information systems infrastructure - including network management, multi-site server support, VOIP phones systems, intercom systems – along with Microsoft Office and other proprietary software related to building operations, life safety, security and information management
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated crisis management and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers
- Schedule must be flexible – availability for emergencies
- Access to a vehicle, a valid driver’s license with personal insurance and clean driving record
- Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Able to stand for long periods of time and walk significant distances (including up and down several sets of stairs)
